Bill Richards called the meeting to order at 7:37pm. Roll call of officers was taken.
January 2008 minutes: Kym Adams accepted the January minutes and Bonnie Schleicher seconded.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Bauer was present and reported that the current bank balance is $6830.10.
Corresponding Secretary’s report: Sharon Warner was absent. Kym Adams was filling in. None was given.
President’s Report:
- Bill thanked all the people who did the Polar Bear Plunge. Special Thanks to Ron Petrecca for all of his help with the trailer and the food! Thanks again Ron!
- Council Bull Roast- We need 4 people to work the wheel. We will decide on Saturday at the Bull Roast.
- OC Raven’s Roost Convention-There is sign up forms on the website. The theme was voted on and, it is “PURPLE PRIDE”. The forms will be available at the March meeting. The cost for adults is $55.00 and children will be $25.00. All attending must be registered and paid for by the April council meeting in order to receive a goody bag with souvenirs. Roost Convention T- shirts are on sale now $9.00- $11.00. Let Bill Richards know if you would like one. We have to order as a group and pay with one check.
- Bill gave the Roost some information about the 5-35. It is the World’s biggest, best autograph signing ever! It will be March 28-30, 2008. You can go online to www.GotMyPlayer.com or call 1-877-602-1292 for more info. Funds will go to help retired players.
Committee Reports:
Membership Committee: Velma reports that we have 54 current members.
Bob Chrest rejoins. Welcome back. Dues are due in May. $35.00 for single members and $60.00 for
couples.
Social Committee:
- Bull and Shrimp Feast-This annual event will be held April 19, 2008. Bonnie will have tickets available at the March meeting. Each member is encouraged to sell at least one table of 10. We need to have a minimum of 200 tickets sold and a max of 400. Tickets will cost $40.00. Please start working on getting donations for the auctions and the door prizes. We need everyone’s help with this. Whatever you can do is helpful. A vote was taken at the January meeting and the majority voted for 50% of the profits from the event will be donated to the Leukemia Society. Bonnie passed out the sign up sheet so that everyone could sign up for an hour at the Bull Roast. If you did not get to you can sign up at the March 11th meeting. We need to put the $1000.00 down for next years Bull Roast.
- Hotel Rooms- Bonnie got 15 rooms blocked at the Ramada; it is attached to Richlin Ballroom for the night of the Bull Roast. They can do a group discount if we have at least 5 rooms booked. The rate will be $69 for the night with your option of 2 double beds or 1 king bed. Less than 5 rooms the rate will be $83 a night or if you're an AAA member the rate is $75 per night. When you call ask for that night and tell them you're with Ravens Roost 74 and you get the discounted rate of $69. If there's any problems ask for Kim in group sales. Polar Bear Plunge Committee:
The Plunge was a great success! We had 21 people do the plunge this year. We raised $6122.00 for Special Olympics! Kym Adams would like to thank everyone that plunged and who donated to Ravens Roost #74 this year. Let’s hope that it is not as COLD next year!
Charity Committee: Lori Chrest gave the $185.00 in gift cards to the Faith Communities & Civic Agencies Untied from the Roost Christmas party. They send us a thank you letter. They are in need of volunteers.
Artwork Committee: Milt was absent. We are putting this on hold for now.
Old Business:
No old business was reported.
New Business:
- We had a vote of “Should we have a discussion about giving Nick York, Ken York’s son a donation for his soccer trip? The vote was 9 people for this and 10 people against. One person did not vote either way. What we decided was to make a Special Fund for this. Lori Chrest will be taking this over. We also talked about: Where do we draw the line? What kind of cap do we put on this? How to go about it? We want to have the people put it in writing to the Roost and come to the meeting to talk about what and why they need the funds. There will be more to come about this topic.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:54PM. Minutes were done by Kym Adams this Month. Sharon will be back in April due to another obligation.
